A blog for parents to share

My goal with this blog and my parent-sharing website is to help parents give their special-needs children the best education possible, regardless of their own education, background, income level or child's learning ability.

As the mom of a dyslexic yet otherwise intelligent child, I have dealt with the frustration of trying to seek help for him. Dyslexia is still unknown territory in many school systems and help is lacking.

I've been through a several-years journey of getting him the help he needs with his reading disability and have met with many others on the same path. During this journey that continues today, I've found the best information came from talking with those other parents. We share what works and what doesn't work for our children. Some reading and studying techniques work for some kids but not for others. But the information itself was always helpful. Sometimes learning that there is something you haven't tried gives you hope that there is something out there that will help your child become successful.

Whether you send your child to public school, private school or home-school your child, educational opportunities are always available. As parents, we all want to ensure our children succeed in life. We all want them to have a better life than what we have, even if our lives are pretty good already.

But we can't just sit back and hope that success happens. We have to make it happen by seeking all the opportunities that are available to our special-needs children. By sharing with other parents who seek the same goal for their children, we all win, we all succeed.

So please join me in discussing education, teaching, tips and tricks and more. The more knowledge we share with each other, the more our children gain.
